Kurashi x Daan Koens pop-up: Obey Art space.
A lively recap of our pop-up in the Obey art space together with long time friend and artist Daan Koens. Shot and edited by: Lex van der Molen
In recent weeks we have had the opportunity to organize something special at the Obey Art Space. Together with our longtime collaborator Daan Koens, we were invited to stage an exhibition in their art space at de Runstraat, showcasing some of Daan’s recent works.
To celebrate the exhibition, we designed a capsule collection consisting of two t shirts, one featuring a new original artwork by Daan, and a selection of lifestyle accessories. With this collection we have expanded our visual identity, incorporating elements of road culture on Curacao.

Tradition to some, public safety hazard to everyone, fever is an undeniable part of road culture on Curacao. To pay homage to this wild phenomenon, in which people race and drift with modified cars, motorbikes, and quads, we designed a cap that allows everyone to be part of our racing team. In the vibrant street culture of Curacao, owning motor vehicles, such as motorbikes and quads, holds a special significance. These vehicles are not only modes of transportation but also symbols of status and recognition within the community, they are considered trophies, representing a level of respect and street cred.

For those who haven’t gotten their license yet, there’s the Baiskel tee (look it up in the dictionary). The tee features the old saying ‘un man ta laba otro, tur dos ta bira limpi’, encapsulating the spirit of collaboration that we live by.

Anyone that has been with us from the start (shout-out to Openlucht Atelier) knows that a pop up event is the perfect excuse for the Soundsystem to start a little party, giving our friends the chance to dance the creases out of their new shirts. For those of you who couldn’t make it to our opening on the 12th of May, we asked Lex van der Molen to capture the vibe on film. Cure your FOMO, or relive some great moments with these amazing snapshots.
